Jack White's Airline JB Hutto

Airline Guitars were a brand manufactured in the United States from 1958-68 by the Valco Manufacturing Company and sold through the Montgomery Ward mail order retail company. Today, old Valco guitars are played by a wide array of artists but most popularly by Jack White of The White Stripes. The red 1965 Airline model illustrated here is referred to as the ‘JB Hutto’ model after the bluesman and slide guitar artist J. B. Hutto who was the first and most visible musician to regularly use this guitar in live performances and recordings. The early 1960’s JB Hutto Montgomery Ward Airline model was re-issued by Eastwood Guitars in the early 2000’s under the name of Airline DLX, however, with many noticeable differences.
