1887 Self Winding Clock Company Catalog Reprint - American Mfg & Supply Co
This 1887 catalog is one of the earliest known trade pblications for the Self-Winding Clock Company. Twenty-six different models are shown in this catalog, and with the exception of three black mantel seyles, are4 all wall clocks. Three gallery syles are offere, each with a choice of three dial sizes. Prices ranged from a high of $8785 to a low of $30. Some models are offered with two grades of movemednts and wth on exception the "B: movement clocks were $35 more than the "C" movement ones. <p>
These self-winding clocks were reltively expensive. One sees that the Model 16 which sold for $40 is in the same case as Seth Thoma's Regulator No. 9 which sold in 1888 with an 8-day weight-driven timepiece movement for $28. Self-Winding's Regulator No. 18 at $45 had the same case as Seth Thomas Regulator No. 30 which sold for $31.50. It is interest that the Seth Thomas Clock Company must have originally designed these cases for the Self-Winding Clock Company since they were not introduced into Seth Thomas' catalogs until 1888.

In addition to the models shown, a page of customer testimonials, a lengthy description of the movement with illustrations, and operating directions also illustrated. A Brief History of the Development of the Self-Winding Clock by D.J. Blackwell concludes the volume.
