Constructed from Shimano’s lightweight, highly durable, robust XT-7 reel material the go-to material for all Shimano mid-range reels the Super GT RD is a surprisingly powerful reel, especially considering its light body and sleek aesthetics. Fitted with an AR-C spool, complete with angled spool lip for reduced casting friction, this reel lets you hit far out into the horizon when you need to. This casting system is supported by Aero Wrap II. Aero Wrap II is an advanced worm gear oscillation system that has been designed to ensure perfect oscillation speeds, resulting in perfect line lay with each cast whilst simultaneously maintaining all the energy for those long distance punches.

The gearing on the Super GT RD is constructed from zinc and then diecast to create flawless gear mesh. Both sizes of the Super GT RD operate with incredibly high torque gearing, a ratio of 5:1 on the 2500 size and 4.8:1 on the 4000. The Super GT RD is also fitted with three stainless steel ball bearings, as well as one roller bearing, to ensure that this reel is the ultimate smooth operator. The aluminium handle has been single machined to ensure it can hold up to maximum power when required.

Shimano has fitted the Super GT RD with an easy to access maintenance port, so you can easily ensure that this reel is ready to go when you need it. A high quality mid-priced reel with mixed black and sliver cosmetics, this is one reel you really have to try to feel its performance power.
