Brazetec, previously Degussa and manufactured in Germany, is mainland Europe's premium brand of silver brazing alloys, solders and fluxes.

Brazetec 5507 is a high-quality silver solder with a silver content of 55%, The old AG14 standard, it combines high strength with a low melting temperature. It will easily join most common metals with the exception of aluminium and some of its alloys.

The small diameter of 1.0mm makes the alloy especially suitable for intricate work such as model engineering and jewellery and being cadmium-free means it is safe to use on food and medical equipment and utensils, as well as applications such as refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.

Please be aware that this is a silver brazing alloy and not a soft solder.

The grading of silver solder and brazing materials is strictly regulated by DIN-EN1044 standards and we only sell from high quality British or German manufacturers who are committed to those standards (Johnson Matthey, Brazetec, Eutectic or Thessco). Rods are uncut and sent as a large letter, this may cause a slight curvature which can be easily straightened.

A wide range of silver brazing and other alloys along with fluxes and pastes are available from our eBay shop, just click on see other items.

Larger quantities and other grades and diameters are always available, just enquire for a price and we will list it as a Buy It Now!!!!

Low temperature silver brazing is a tried and trusted industrial process established over the centuries but you must have a suitable heat source such as oxy/gas equipment or a brazing hearth. Oxy-turbo kits are available cheaply on eBay and are ideal for silver brazing.

Conditions for Use

This filler metal is mainly used for brazing in air with a flux. In most cases Brazetec d21 flux can be used in

conjunction with 5507. However, flux selection is application dependent.

Silver solder/brazing is a long-established industrial process used in the manufacture of many items!
