MINI Microphone Screen/Reflection Filter/Shield/Portable Isolator Vocal Booth WITH REMOVABLE TOP!One of our buyers asked to do an isolated top for his Mini Screen. We thought why not? After thinking about how to make a removable top we made what you can see in the pictures. After testing it in our studio we have found out that it tightens vocals even more than a fully closed Mini filter of our own design. The main con of the construction is that you can open up the filter a little wider and put the top a little up to let a little reverb in. Basically the removable top gives much more opportunities to play with your vocals.
We compared our model with the other mini screens, and the main conclusion is that all other screens are in a shape of a shield and too much sound energy is getting past them and bounces back to your mic, which makes them more useful with the drum microphones (actually the mini versions were designed exactly for small drum mics). Our version is in a shape of a BOOTH we made it cover the mic from the sides which prevents the sound to bounce back from the walls to the sensitive parts of your microphone. So our test showed pretty much the same result as our full size filter which our customers liked very much (see out feedback)
The main advantage of a pyramid type of foam used in a vocal reflection filter is that it has much more curves and angles than a plain foam used in most of the filters. Imagine the sound waves coming out your mouth, they hit the foam and in reality only 20% of them are really being absorbed by the foam with 80% of it is being bounced back. 80% bounces back to the the wall behind you and is being reflected back to the microphone which is why most of the people are not happy with standard reflection filters, because the result they bring is not worth 100-300$ (the price of standard screens). In the case of pyramid foam the sound waves gets reflected from one pyramid to another making them completely absorbed by the foam. So the taller the pyramid the better the result. As previously mentioned we use 3cm (1,5 inches) thick foam which brings the best result in the business, and it is the of course the most expensive. Now if u look at any top notch studio, what do you see on the walls? That's right, pyramid foam.

Our reflection screen tightens and dries your vocals or instrument, removes the reverbs and echoes, absorbs the annoying frequencies that usually stand out in a home recording leaving just natural sound which is easy to be mixed and mastered further.
As regards the metal construction, ours if made fully of metal but it is comfortable enough, whether you mount it on a mic stand of a desktop stand, your stand won't even feel it and it will not wobble or move. The metal construction is made of steel and aluminium which is easily bendable, so if you wish to change the shape of the shield to make it more open or closed, feel free to bend it a bit and it will get the shape you need.
