For grading in general:

G or "Good" is a complete comic with noticeable wear.

VG or "Very Good" is a copy with some wear. Not too bad. Overall a decent copy.

F or "Fine" is a nice solid copy. Usually appears at first glance to be very nice but upon closer inspection has a number of small defects.

VF is a high grade comic with almost nothing wrong. Only something very minor allowed in this grade.

NM and NM/M are no excuses, High grade, nearly perfect copies.

there can be + and - to each of these grades and also lower grades of Pr (poor) and Fr (fair) which are quite worn and in some cases not complete. All grades above Fr are complete books. There are also compound grades which are in between two grades.
