The bifocal safety specs glasses allow the user to read and look at distant objects without the need to remove or glance over the top of the glasses. This is because these bifocal eyeglasses have a lower lens section that corrects near vision focusing problems whilst the upper section is a plain lens without any corrective power.

The lower corrective lens section is a D-shaped segment that is fused onto the surface of the main lens area. The dioptre values available for the reading lens start at +1.0 dioptre and increase in half dioptre steps up to +3.0 dioptre.

SAFETY GLASSES FAQ's

Do you offer safety glasses with anti-fog lenses?

All models manufactured by voltX Safety have anti-fog coated lenses as standard (except polarized lenses).

How strong are voltX Safety glass lenses?

All safety glasses supplied by voltX Safety are made from Polycarbonate, this is a very tough material. The impact resistance of a Polycarbonate lens is approximately ten times higher than that of a safety glass lens made from hardened glass.

Polycarbonate is used in many applications, such as "bullet proof" windows, and in other applications requiring great flexibility and strength. This material can be moulded in opaque or clear material. In clear form it is an excellent material for optical lens manufacturing. Most safety glass lenses are today made from Polycarbonate.

Do you have safety glasses that can be adjusted for best possible fit?

Several models in our product line offers both angle and length adjustment of the temples. The angle adjustment allows the lens to be tilted so that it offers the best possible protection for the job at hand. This feature is also helpful for individuals with asymmetric faces (it is common that the right and left ears are at different heights)

How are voltX Safety glasses tested, and to what standards?

Safety glasses are tested to CE EN166 and and are UKCA & CE certifified.

This standard includes optical requirements as well as physical requirement. Here is a list of some of the tests that are required:

Test Performed

Description

High Mass Impact

F. Low energy impact, resists a 6 mm, 0.86 g ball at 45 m/s.
B. Medium energy impact, resists a 6 mm, 0.86 g ball at 120 m/s.
A. High energy impact, resists a 6 mm, 0.86 g ball at 190 m/s.

High Velocity Impact

F. Low energy impact, resists a 6 mm, 0.86 g ball at 45 m/s
B. Medium energy impact, resists a 6 mm, 0.86 g ball
at 120 m/s
A. High energy impact, resists a 6 mm, 0.86 g ball at 190 m/s

Drop-Ball Impact

Basic impact requirement for all devices: 1 inch diameter steel ball dropped at 127 cm (50 inches).

Penetration Test (Plastic lenses only)

Spectacles shall be capable of resisting penetration from a weighted projectile weighing 44.2 g dropped from a height of 127 cm.

Prismatic Power

The prismatic power shall not exceed 1/2 prism diopter in any direction. Vertical and horizontal prism imbalance shall not exceed 1/4 prism diopter....

Refractive Power and Astigmatism

The refractive power in any meridian shall not exceed 0.06 diopter. The astigmatism shall not exceed 0.06 diopter.

Haze

Lenses shall not exhibit more than 3% haze, when tested in accordance with....

Optical Quality

No striae, bubbles, waves or other visible defects that would impair optical quality is allowed.

Cleanability

After cleaning the function of the spectacles shall not be impaired.

Markings

Frame marking must include the CE Symbol and manufacturer's name. Lens marking include the scale number for filtering lenses and the manufacturer's name.

UV Protection

All our safety glasses including clear lens have Class 1 protection.
