In view here is a used Nikon Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200mm f/4 Ai-S Zoom in good usable condition. From it’s debut in August 1981 until it was discontinued in 1998, Nikon produced approximately 150,000 Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200mm f/4Ai-S lenses, indicating a well received and successful design. The 80-200mm f/4 constant aperture zoom is considered to have good sharpness and contrast and is useful for color or black and white photography.
This example is in great mechanical condition. The zoom and focus is smooth and sure. Zoom and focus are accomplished using a single push/pull control ring that has a broad grip-able surface. It’s closest focus is just inside 4ft for great close-up images. Cosmetically it is good condition though normal signs of use on the lens barrel. Optically it carries a few marks on the front optical surface. This should not affect image quality to any notable degree. The rear element is clean and free from observable marks. There is no sign of fog or fungus. Focus and zoom actions are smooth and sure.
Designed for use on Nikon manual focus 35mm film cameras, this great lens can live on in the digital age using a mount adapter of your choice (not a part of this sale) and be attached to anything from Micro 4:3 to a full sized DSLR. Of course you can still use it on your favorite Nikon 35mm camera body too.
