About Us
Based in the North East of England, Recyke Y’Bike is a community project that relies on donated bikes from members of the public. Trained mechanics and volunteers work to restore bikes and components ready to be resold or passed on to some of our other projects.
Most of our bikes are sold to the public through our Newcastle based shop. All the profit is put back into the project to cover running costs and to finance the sending of selected bikes to Re-Cycle. Based in Colchester, Re-Cycle send used bikes to Africa to support schools and community health programmes.
Recyke Y’Bike believes that providing affordable, roadworthy transport to the local community is a good way to promote cycling, as well as keeping bikes out of land-fill sites.
We also work to provide free bikes to asylum seekers who often rely heavily on cycling as their main mode of transport.
