For sale is a great Vintage clown hobo doll from RUSHTON COMPANY. Circa 1950s-1960s (?). He is about 20 inches tall/long.

This vintage doll is in nice overall condition; head and limbs are fully attached, no torn seams. He is dressed in patched pants, with suspenders, as shown in the back. The suspenders in the front appear to have originally connected to the buttons by the red pieces. He has a plush body which is covered with colorful diamond shapes. He has a wonderfully expressive painted rubber face as can be seen. His rubber ears are floppy as designed. His face and head could be cleaned, but I have refrained due to his great vintage condition. His hair is a little matted from age. His clothes have some understandable light soiling from the decades. Someone at some point wrote the letter "M" on two of his patches. See the photos for more detail.

This doll has a fully-operational, beautifully-sounding music box inside him, operated by the turn-crank in his back as shown. The melody sounds like the tune for "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."

The tag on the back of his head, as well as an imprint around the front of his neck, show this is an authentic "The Rushton Company" article.

Please examine the photographs and contact the seller with any questions. This vintage Rushton doll has some age, but is still in solid shape. He has a unique charm, and can be considered adorable or quite creepy, however the case may be. A great slice of Americana and Toy Memorabilia nonetheless.
