After 30 Years, Now Available Again- Thomas A. Yorke Ent Structures!

"Pool Hall & Bordello" Craftsman Kit by Thomas A. Yorke Enterprises *is now* Scale Model Masterpieces HO/HOn3/HOn2/HOn30

*NEW* from Scale Model Masterpieces! The Scale Model Masterpieces Pool Hall/Bordello HO/HOn3 kit is finally here, and it is simply AMAZING! FYI It did take us around three years to get around to it. The design of this fantastic Craftsman kit much more like the 'original' 1979 version Thomas A Yorke Ent. did a number of years ago, But that's almost where it ends. We have used Tom Yorke 'original' hand-carved masters and created totally new castings to replace all that wood and time-consuming construction of the 2nd Floor Bordello, multi-pitched roofs, and both front facades. And ,instead of just 10 or so castings, there are now 27 LabStone high-quality castings, Precision Cut Roofs, Glazing and Signs (the Baba O'Rileys Pool Hall sign is like not other!), 4-Color Laser Signs and window glazing, meticulous instructions and Options, lots of images, and included in this kit is a copy of Doctor Ben's How-To #2: The ABCs of Staining Castings booklet.

So, for the few drooling in anticipation and the curious wondering about the changes that we have in store, the first change is obvious; an exterior stairway up to "Roxanne's" Bordello. Why you ask? Well, the building has a new owner and rent paying tenants are needed to pay the mortgage. The enclosed interior stairwell that 'use' to allow patrons up to Roxanne's now heads down to the basement where "Max's Barber Shop" now resides.

The stairway is an old iron and concrete unit from another property that the new owner had which mysteriously burned down a few years back and managed to cobble it up to the stone wall up to Roxanne's. Word has it that the tenant on the other side of the stonewall ("The Iron Horse Saloon") wasn't too thrilled about all the hammer drills used to attach the stairway to the wall. It seems that all the vibrations caused more than one whiskey bottle to hit the floor and sounding more like a shotgun going off in the bar. All the half-drunk patrons (yes, during the day) also hit the floor until the all clear was given that no one was shooting in the bar; yet.

South River Modelworks Millett Creamery65 foot Diameter Split Granite Turntable Pit

Each of these pits  are cast in a very high and stable resin. This is done  so that you will not have to worry about things warping  and twisting around long after you have installed this  pit into your layout. Still, the pit that you have  received may (probably) have some tiny voids that were  bubbles as result of the casting process. Typically, we  pressurize our castings to pretty my void out these  pockets. Unfortunately, the size of this pit does not  fit our pressure pot, so there are a couple of things  that you can do to remedy this situation.

First, a tiny clump  of grass/weeds picked up with small pointy tweezers and  a dab of super glue pointed into the void makes it  disappear right away! Another idea is to use a small  Dremel bit and a dental pick to make the pockets more  ragged like the split granite and aged over time and  chunks have fallen off. These two ideas are what I  prefer to do.*NEW* Doctor Ben's 4-Piece Special Weathering Solution Set-4-4 oz Bottles!

If you are  looking for that relatively new look (and what layout  full of un-weathered buildings & rolling stock isn’t) a  small dab of Squadron White putty or Testors Puddy with  a small spatula will make quick work of the gaps. If you  are not into those fancy puttys/puddys might we suggest  using some paintable caulking or wood filler from the  Big Box store instead?

Installation Instructions:*NEW* Doctor Ben's 4-Piece Special Weathering Solution Set-4-4 oz Bottles!

This  Doctor Ben’s Fine Scale Turntable Pit is fairly simple  to install. Cut a 12” square hole where you would like  the pit positioned in your layout; build up some  framing; test the fit of the pit and get all the wiring  ready to hook up.

Begin priming and weathering as per the Doctor Ben’s  “How-To #1: Turning Toys into Models” booklet. Install  circular piece of track (a two-gallon bucket will help  you curve the metal track) and test fit (a few  strategically placed pilot holes with track nails as  locating pins aids this process well) and cement into  place with some 5-minute epoxy. Weathering will hide any  epoxy that seeps out.

The dimensions of  this Turntable Pit are 12" square overall with the pit  dimensions of 9.125" diameter by 15/16" to the floor of  the pit. The  rail lip that you see in the image is  0.093" high by about 5/16" wide. the individual 3/32"  BBBs are staggered as not to overlap joints.
