One hundred years old lens with great performance.
Cool! The classic PETZVAL look, which this lens actually is. That's some photographer's favorite.
From the point view of one hundred years old optics, the condition of this lens is amazing. Glass is very clean without any rainbow ( glass degradation) or damage. In other word, its optics is very clean according to it being one hundred years old. In addition, its color temperature is not too bad after measurement and check. Amazing.
It has never occurred to my mind that its axial MTF is pretty high. Was it a projection optics? I prefer to saying this optics is close to standard of vintage movie camera optics rather than being a projection lens. Two reasons are given: firstly, its axial MTF is pretty high. Secondly, its focus system are strong enough to meet the demand of vintage movie camera.
I believe that this lens will be the favorite of most portraint photographer due to PETZVAL-LIKE effect without sacrifice of axial performance. Lens is at Baltimore, MD, U.S.A.
