This original painting is titled “Distant Hills”.

The artist is Paul Harvey.

The painting is done on chipboard panel, and measures 8 1/2” by 11”.

Color is a central element within my paintings. I have a form of  colorblindness so the final painting that you see is probably different than the one I imagine painting. For many people this means that my colorings are much more vivid and intense than they would have expected. This is another reason many of my paintings explore sharp contrasts in elements.

I enjoy exploring the wide diversity of styles of art. Over the years I have done work in various themes like western, seascape, landscape, nature, still life, wildlife, desert, and abstract. My subject matter over time has traveled toward the solitary figure, the object or person that stands alone among the throng of humanity passing near them. This is not loneliness, but a form of strength that shows resiliency to the challenges that life puts before our paths and the ability to survive with dignity. When you view my work you can search for the solitary idea of gathering the strength to stand strong.

I paint in a smoke free studio.

I have sold my paintings around the world. My paintings have been acquired by private collectors, galleries, office and professional groups, television and movie set display firms, interior decorators, and several museums in New York and Chicago. I do commissioned paintings, but any new commissions would take a year or two to finish due to the number of commissions I am currently working on.
