This is an original vintage WWII U.S. Army pile field jacket.  Tag inside the right pocket reads "Jacket, Field, Pile, O.D.; US Army 6-440; Pattern B" and is dated 7/25/50. The jacket is in decent condition. The fabric is in good condition, and only has a few light stains. The knit at the cuffs and collar has some small holes. Two of the six closure buttons are missing, but the others are matching, in good condition and tightly stitched. The liner and pile filling are in great condition. There are two stains on the back that look like they might be paint. Please see pictures for further detail.

The jacket is tagged as a size 42R. The shoulder span measures 19", underarm to underarm measures 22", the arm length from shoulder to cuff measures 23", from under the arm to the cuff measures 18", and the length from the nape of the neck to the hem is 27 1/2".

I am not an enthusiast or an expert; I am selling my late husband's collection.  While I try to research as much as possible, not everything is necessarily what I believe it to be.  For this reason, I try to describe items as accurately as possible, so please be sure to look closely at the pictures to know exactly what you're bidding on.  I'm happy to answer any questions or hear any input.  Uniforms have been in dark storage for at least 10 years and have not been recently laundered or ironed.  Please note that, although sizes are given, items are sold as is and as collectibles, and no returns will be accepted.
