Vintage Radio Dial Drive Cord - 3m x 1.0mm

As used in many of the really, really old Radios from the 1940's through 1960's... and ORIGINAL to Eddystone, Marconi, Philips and many many more such as Alba, Bush, Cossor, Decca, Eko, Ferranti, Heathkit, KW, RCA, Zenith (to name but a few) and lots of others.

This is NEW OLD STOCK (in absolutely guaranteed perfect condition just like the day it was made - not like some of the dirty decayed rubbish you see being sold).

You get at least a 3 metre length (almost 10 ft - 120 inches in old imperial measurements) - way more than enough to do any Radio you could mention of the period.

Genuine Twisted Linen Cord (just like the old radio's used), approximately 1.0mm diameter.  If you need the thinner 0.6mm cord - please see my other eBay listing.

Lets face it - the old radios DIDN'T USE Nylon cord - it hadn't been invented on the older sets, so all those folks claiming to sell genuine original nylon - it just isn't so.  Nylon is also very slippery, another reason it generally wasn't used - even in the more modern sets - you wind nylon around a drive shaft and it just doesn't grip properly.

You get it bagged as a loose spool.  Folks that wind it around some flat cardboard and then post it to you don't realise that you can impart a permanent kink into some of the inferior string materials which you can then 'feel' as you tune when it goes across pulleys and wheels.

Old Radio Manufacturers Tip:  To stop any ends fraying (just as you would when lacing cable looms), put a dab of lacquer or wax on the cord ends.  Manufacturers would normally use the same stuff they used for sealing tuning slugs.  A modern equivalent would be a dab of the wife's or girlfriends (or your own!) nail vanish (but not on tuning slugs!).

Please don't make offers unless you are planning to COLLECT or wish to purchase more than one length.
