Grading System for used items:  We are using a two letter grading system.  1st letter is for COSMETIC condition and 2nd letter is for MECHANICAL condition.   Example, if the grade is said to be "BA" it is a B for cosmetic and an A for mechanical condition.  A does not mean like new.  A is very very good used condition and may show very minimal signs of use.  Not all items will be graded.  For some items we will include plenty of pics and written info on the condition.  We always do our best to point out any issues.  Some items in similar condition may use a stock photo - in other words if we are selling a leatherman wave for example and we have 5 of them in very similar condition that we would rate a BA we may just use pics from one of them.  It may have light scratches or wear marks and the other ones would have a similar light scratches/wear marks but not exactly the same.  For items that are more uncommon/rare we normally use actual photos.  Anything that is a C or lower we will generall use actual pictures and we will give written notice to what is wrong with it.  Any engraving and/or lettering on the blade or handle will not affect the grade but will be shown in pics or written in the description.  Occasionally we may also use a + or - to indicate slightly better or worse (example B+A is B+ cosmetic and A for mechanical).   Here are some guidelines:

Cosmetic:

1. A:  May have no marks to very light scratches/wear marks on handles, blades/tools.  A does not mean new it means the best used condition.
2. B:  Has normal light to medium scratches/wear marks on handles and/or bladed. not deep scratches but surface scratches.  
3. C:  Has deep scratches on handle/blades/tools or cracks in handles.
4. D:  Very bad & deep scratches.  It would have to be in pretty bad shape to get a D and pics and explanation would be included.

Mechanical:

1. A: All tools function as intended as if it were new.  No broken tips, no bad edges, no loose blades.
2. B: has small issue such as tip is broken off the knife, the blade is slightly loose, the knife edge has a few small imperfections, the knife appears to have been sharpened but only a few times.  It may have some surface rust that can likely be removed.
3. C: May have a few issues/broken tools, or a larger issue of a broken tool as in the entire knife blade is broken, or a siginifcant part is missing, or the knife has been sharpened a lot.  It may have rust that can not be removed. 
4. D: It would have to be in pretty bad shape to get a D and pics and explanation would be included.
