Up for sale is a beautiful silver pair case verge fusee antique pocket watch, circa 1781.

  

The watch has just been cleaned and serviced and the movement is in perfect working condition. It runs to the end of the fusee chain in all positions very smoothly and keeps very good time.   


Movement: The beautiful fire gilt movement is signed Thomas White London, and numbered 14282. Three arm steel balance. Beautiful engraved top plate and balance cock. Square pillars. Silver Tompion regulator.

Thomas White, London, is well listed in all the reference books. For a good example you can look at: G. H. Baillie, Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, Vol. 1, p. 340.  He has watches and clocks on display in several collections. 


Inner case: Silver inner case in very good condition. a few very tiny dents on the side. Hallmarked for London 1781. The case is also marked with the case makers initials.  


Outer case: Plain silver original outer case with matching hallmarks as the inner case: London 1781. very nice condition.  


Dial: White early original signed enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Beautiful decorations between the Roman numerals. Original and mint steel beetle and poker hands. The dial has a small restoration on the lower part - next to the opening lever, as you can notice from the pictures. The dial is signed Thomas White London.  


It is a large and heavy silver pair case pocket watch. The silver inner case is 45 mm wide and the silver outer case is 54 mm. The watch weighs 107 grams. !!!!


As you can see from the pictures, it is a lovely and spectacular watch in an amazing condition with no reserve !!!
