Rare book which

 contains the first appearance of the illustration of portrait of William Barret "Buck" Travis (see photo). This portrait is a 

sketch done by Wyly Martin, and is the only known likeness of Travis drawn during his lifetime.

Discoloration to cover and internal page foxing - see photos. Small split at top of spine (see photo) but covers and pages secure. A few pages with pencil markings. Former owner signature on front endpaper with rough spot on opposing page, possibly from removed owner bookplate (see photo).
