This is a rooted offset from Gasteria 'Blue Thunder’, one of the choice Gasteria Armstrongii hybrids from the late Rick Nowakowski of Natures Curiosity Shop in Nevada.  He produced many hybrids and his website is still online and shows photos of many of his hybrids.  Gasteria ‘Blue Thunder’ will form a small semi-rosette of short, fat leaves with darker green edges though offsets give little hint of how the mature plant will look.  Smaller offsets like the one shown here do not yet have the darker edges to the leaves seen on mature plants.   Rick described it as an Armstrongii hybrid.

It measures 6.8cms across and is the plant in the photo.

  • They like to grow in a bright spot, with some protection from strong midday sun.  It is not frost hardy, water when dry, about every two weeks. Keep dry and frost free during the winter.

Post and packing in the UK is £3.90 flat rate for any number of plants.  We only charge the actual cost of postage and packing materials.

  • Postage to Europe is £9.50 and we use Priority Recorded Post with signature on receipt, postage for extra plants is another 40p each.
  • Sorry but we can’t post outside Europe as Phytosanitary and CITES permits are too expensive and take months to obtain.

  • The plant will be sent ex pots and posted first class and well packed. On receipt pot into free draining compost, we suggest a mix of two parts good quality John Innes soil based compost to one part coarse grit. Use fairly shallow pots, most cacti and succulents are not deep rooted.
  • Payment is best made by Paypal as it is speedy and secure.
  • The plant will be sent within a few days of receipt of payment.  If they have been recently watered a few days are necessary to allow it to dry before posting.
  • We've been growing cacti and succulents since 1975 and regularly give talks at BCSS branch meetings and judge cactus shows during the summer. If you're not a member of the British Cactus & Succulent Society,  have a look at their website, most branches have regular monthly meetings and there's always a warm welcome for prospective new members.  .
