Royal Bayreuth child's plate, Little Boy Blue asleep under a haystack. Gorgeous full color illustration of the nursery rhyme showing an angelic little boy sound asleep in the hay, clutching his horn while his sheep wander about. The nursery rhyme appears in a rectangular frame of twigs and leaves, beautifully lettered, at top of plate. Edged with gold enamel. Measures 7 ½? in diameter x 3/4" tall.

Royal Bayreuth mark on underside is blue coat of arms showing an armor helmet, two facing lions with shields holding P (Porcelain) T (Tettau) over a banner with Priv. 1794. Royal Bayreuth is above, Bavaria below. (Tetau is the Bavarian town where the Bayreuth Pottery was located. Priv. 1794 refers to the date when royal privilege was granted for the pottery to produce porcelain.) Mark used 1902  c. 1919.

There are some shallow utensil marks close to center of plate which are very hard to see, and a deeper one close to lower edge of plate (4th photo). Much of gilding worn off edges. Still delightful and in excellent condition for its age.
