This auction is for the pictured Ca. 1960 production date Universal Geneve gents MICROTOR Micro Rotor Automatic winding Ref 20370/2 that features a SLENDER 34.5mm diameter (not including the crown- missing anyhow) round all stainless steel case!!  This is a project watch that is currently missing the stem and crown, not running and has a poorly older restored dial on it- the scripts are not that great quality and are too faint.  This movement is a Universal Geneve Caliber 215-97 and it features a TINY and COUNTERSUNK winding rotor that is sunk into the regular thickness of the manual winding base caliber- this way the watch achieved Automatic winding with ZERO extra thickness added to the watch case!!  This Micro Rotor innovation was invented by the Buren Watch Company in the early 1950s and Universal developed theirs soon after.  This movement is marked for 17 Jewels on the plate and then underneath the winding rotor it’s marked “6 Additional Jewels” for a total of 23 Jewels!  The winding rotor swings nice and freely but I have tried to get the balance swinging back and forth by rocking the case of the watch and the balance wheel just swings sluggishly about half way each direction and then stops.   In probing the balance, it seems that the balance staff is broken on this watch.  CASE CONDITION on this watch is VERY GOOD to VERY GOOD PLUS and this case features a desirable SCREW DOWN case back- far preferable to snap down case backs!  The serial number on this watch appears to be 2,031,461.  This is a worthy project watch- these Universal Geneve Microtor and Polerouter watches are getting to be TOUGH to find these days!!  For my part in the project I have just installed a brand new 18mm wide black leather strap on the watch that is a fine match to the all stainless steel case.  I have priced this watch to $ELL with a ROCK BOTTOM low opening bid and there is NO RESERVE!!!
