This gorgeous antique couture coat has been in my collection for many years, stored carefully. In a stunning red silk velvet which flashes in a cerise shade, the sleeves are very full and gathered with wide black silk velvet fold up cuffs lined in black silk satin. The collar is also black silk velvet lined in black silk satin, and this coat has beautiful tiny ruffle details on two seams running horizontally across the coat, one of them creating the drop waist effect which was so popular in the late 1910s and early 1920s. There are gathers along the ruffled seams which add to the fullness of this evening coat. In the 1980s the coat was professionally fully relined with a period-correct pink silk satin striped fabric. In astounding condition, the coat can fit anyone from a medium (loosely) up to about a 2x comfortably and closes with a single large black metal hook at the collar. The wide velvet cuffs of the sleeves fall to just above wrist length and are more fitted than anything else on the coat, and would look fabulous with a pair of black evening gloves. Only a tiny bit of wear to the velvet shows under the collar; there are no holes, stains or other damage to the coat. Measures up to 52 bust and low waist, up to 66 hips and length of 40 inches. The sleeves are about 20 inches long. You won't find another antique coat as wearable, comfortable and stunning as this one!
I do not accept returns on these antique garments, so please ask any questions before purchase, thanks!
