New Hejnar Photo conversion set for Manfrotto 400 gear head. (Manfrotto 400 gear head is not included in this auction) This combination of plate and clamp will let you use Manfrotto geared head with any arca swiss equipment. Manfrotto gear head is more precise than ball head and preferred by many photographers.
Many architectural and interior photographers actually prefer geared 3-axis tripod heads rather than ball heads because they can make precision adjustments to each axis.
Three popular heads are Manfrotto 400 , 405 and 410 which each use Manfrotto QR plate. Arca-swiss plate fans can now bypass this.
Clamp can disconnect from plate and use independent on other equipment if needed. Clamp can be positioned in relation to adapter plate in 90 degree increments to make it convenient for everybody.
Adapter plate is attached to Manfrotto geared head in few simple steps.
Remove original mounting platform - remove two screws on each side of original mounting platform with provided hex wrench
Remove mounting platform from head.
Remove lock down mechanism on platform back (opposite to original Manfrotto main level ) This small section can be removed by unscrewing two flat head screws. Save this plate together with flat head screws. If you ever decide to go back you will need them. They are not required for conversion plate mount.
Insert replacement M400 plate in opening. Round section should slide under original front V grove the same way original Manfrotto plate does. Close level
Attaché M400 replacement plate to mounting platform with two provided screw from underneath where two nuts holding back plate ware located. Keep M400 press against front V
Reattached platform to gear head by mounting two side removed in step one.
Attache clamp in any direction you need it. Clamp attaché with one center ¼-20 screw and two 10-32 side screw
