Al Hawkes Autographed  45
                                                            Everybodys Waitin /  Snowmobile Sal
Recorded by Al Hawkes on Event  E 175

The value of this 45 is in who wrote and produced the songs
on his own label, along with his signature.

Original 45 in G minus condition. Play graded.
There are many scratches on this 45, some are deep, that cause pops and clicks
and a few slight skips when played on my machine.

The inscription reads: To Nina  A Real Nice Chick   Al Hawkes  4/26/78
This record was produced in 1975

Al Hawkes wrote both songs and played all of the instruments on both songs
except for Snowmobile Sal, which another musician played 5 string banjo on.

Al Hawkes founded and was Event records based in Westbrook Maine from 1956 until 1962
He passed away in December 2018.

The Sound Cellar, where this record was recorded, was Al Hawkes other business                                                                                that he started after closing Event records.

It is also the same building where Event records recording studio was located

During his musical career  Al Hawkes won many awards
and was best known for his contributions to Bluegrass Music.

The International Bluegrass Music Museum in Kentucky recognized him as one of the                                                                                 “Pioneers of Bluegrass.”

He was half of a duo with Alton Myers, making them the first interracial duo in bluegrass.

Bluegrass musicians from around the country
visited Hawkes’ recording studio in Westbrook to produce music with him.

Al Hawkes was a producer and engineer who cared about making high-quality recordings,                                               of his own music and that of friends like guitarist Lenny Breau and country singer                                                                        Dick Curless at Event records

The recordings Al Hawkes, Lenny Breau and Dick Curless made together at Event  Records Studio in Westbrook in the 1950s and early ’60s are some of the best examples of regional American rockabilly and                   bluegrass music, and many have been reissued by many labels in Europe

Anyone who knows who Lenny Breau was

will understand the significance of these original recordings.

This information gives credence to the artist and autograph on this record as to the value of                                                 it historically in the Bluegrass / Rockabilly music industry.
