As a world-renowned leader in guitar aging, Tom Murphy perfected his aging process as a way to revive old instruments without making them look unnatural. In Tom's words, the aging process lets players appreciate the feel of a classic collector's instrument, without spending a fortune on a vintage instrument.
Historically accurate details
To revive the very essence of the original '59 Les Paul Standard guitar, Gibson Custom spared no expense, painstakingly recreating each part of the 1959 Les Paul Reissue piece by piece. The original non-weight-relieved mahogany body, hand-carved and bookmatched maple top, and holly-head veneer headstock are only the beginning. The accuracy of the details go all the way down to the straight-line positioning of the 1959 Les Paul Reissue's vintage-style tulip tuners, the size and shape of the acrylic trapezoid block inlays, and the '50-style long neck tenon joint. If you hold the Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Reissue up to the original, you'd be more than hard pressed to tell them apart.
