This is a used B+W 62E (62mm) Circular Polarizer made in Germany by Schneider. This filter is in excellent condition showing no marks or abrasions.
Polarizing filters are used to reduce or eliminate reflections on non-metallic objects such as water or glass. Polarizers also help clean-up aerial haze on summer days, giving darker blue skies as well as increasing contrast and enhancing saturation in color photos. Maximum polarization produces approximately 1.5 stops of neutral density making polarizers a handy aide for smoothing moving water.
Linear polarizers are for manual focus systems only. For auto focus systems a Circular Polarizer is necessary for focusing and other considerations. Circular Polarizers work best for digital photography.
