A totally unique collection of WW2 French Memorabilia

The collection includes the following:

Statuette

Limited Edition

Bronze Statuette of

Marechal Leclerc De Hauteclocque (1902-1947)

#86 of 200 produced

The statuette side inscription reads

"Cette Statuette a ete fondue pour

Mr Louis Bordas

Ancient de la 2nd D.B. a l'occasion

du cinquantenaire de la liberation"

The inscription translates roughly that the Statuette was made for Mr Louis Bordas

Who was a soldier of the 2nd Amoured Division on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation (Strasbourg) 23rd November 1994

The Statuette Measures 21.5cm high

The Marble plinth Measures 3cm x 7.5cm x 8cm.

The full size Statue stood in Douala, Cameroon in the French area of Cameroon. Sadly the Statue was decapitated by militants in Cameroon

The statuette is signed and a foundry mark is Visible

The condition of the Statuette is excellent

The plaques have some age related wear as you would expect.

The Medals

The Medals belonged to Mr Louis Bordas who received the Statuette in recognition of being at the liberation of Strasbourg.

The Medals are as follows:

Volunteer combatant's Medal

1939-45 War Medal with Mentioned in Dispatched Bronze Star

American Citation Ribbon

The medals have not been cleaned and their ribbons are sun bleached (the reverse shows true colours)

20th Anniversary Bronze Medal

This Medal was presented to Louis Bordas

On the 20th Anniversary Of the Liberation Of Strasbourg

Dated 23rd November 1964

The front shows Strasbourg Cathedral

The reverse has the following:

“VINGTIEME ANNIVERSAIRE”

“DE LA LIBERATION OF STRASBOURG

PAR LA DIVISION LECLERC”

“23 NOVEMBRE 1964”

The Medal Measures:

6.7cm Diameter

4mm thick

144g weight

Strasbourg Red Invitation

The Invitation was given to Mr Louis Bordas

For the 25th anniversary of the Liberation of Strasbourg

23rd November 1969

The folder shows Strasbourg Cathedral and a shield showing a map of Free France.

Inside the cover there is a monochrome picture of Strasbourg Cathedral

The opposite side is the acknowledgement and gratitude to their Liberators.

Both sides show minimal age related deterioration.

The folder is red leather effect Plastic

Biscuit tin

A rare lithographic biscuit tin that depicts various scenes of WW2 involving General Leclerc.

The lid has a picture of General Leclerc, a map of France with military emblem.

The front shows 3 Tanks in the Desert in Tunisia.

The rear shows General Leclerc Saluting his armoured division after the Liberation of Strasbourg.

The right side shows General Leclerc in an Armoured vehicle giving the thumbs up to French Soldiers at the Liberation of Paris.

The Left Side shows a military pass by at the funeral of General Leclerc in front of his coffin on a gun carriage in 1947.

The tin Measures the following:

21.7cm Length

11.5cm high

13cm Width

The condition of the tin has some scratches and the lithographs have varying crazing in some areas.

Sadly in 1947 General Leclerc was killed in an aviation accident.

This collection is a historical part of French and the worlds that paved the way of today.
