FEATURED:  A very lovely piece of original illustrator artwork, "WINTER SCENE" by Bill Tiell, 1946, for AMERICAN GREETINGS COMPANY'S 'SAPPHIRE' LINE, is an iconic  beautiful winter scene that we all recognize and cherish, with a charming country home, beautiful trees and foliage, even in winter, lovely snow-covered firs looking ready for Santa to arrive, and a creek not yet frozen, still murmuring away in the silence of a snow-covered wonderland.  The artist, who worked for American Greetings, Cleveland, Ohio, for over 40 years as a card illustrator, who saw scenes just like this during his winter walks and travels in Ohio, captured perfectly the scene so dear to our memories and fantasies of a beautiful, simple peaceful snowy wonderland.  And as an added bonus, we have included what remains of the large original Am. Greetings Christmas cards box that this was the cover art for!  This watercolor & gouache original is in lovely condition, ready to be framed and given to someone really special, or keep for yourself, to enjoy by a warm fire and appreciate the simple natural things we long for and remember.

Measures: Board is :19.5" X 22", and image itself is: 15" X 17 5/8".  Dated 1946, not signed but purchased with card box at the estate of the artist, and verified by his family that this was his work  during a 40+ year career at American Greetings Co., in Cleveland, Ohio.  Artist is William W. (Bill)  Tiell, Sr., deceased. Art is in wonderful condition, not framed/matted, from a non-smoking home.  Box ( 2 parts) featuring this specific art on the cover has some condition issues but very scarce to find the box and art together from this era, and is included in the listing. A lovely addition to any home decor or an illustration or art collection, and a wonderful holiday gift, sure to delight anyone on your special list- you included!
