Sometimes vintage hardware can be maintained for years, but the EL Panel backlight starts to dim and fades so much that it becomes unreadable.
It may have been decades since the product was manufactured so getting spares can be tricky. Luckily we have a whole range of replacement EL Backlights available.
You will find this Backlight is the right size for a AMS Neve Logic Series mixing desk as well as Akai S Series (S900, S1000, S1100)
These EL Backlights will have to be soldered into place, they are very robust and if it is not quite the right size you can trim it down to shape with scissorsand not a scalpel blade. You will also need to reseal any 'cut' edges with gluw before installing.
EL Panels have been used as display backlights in consumer and professional electronic equipment for more than 30 years.
They have proven to be very reliable but if the unit is still being used after more than 10,000 hours of lit display then these will start to fade.
As these units are often decades old, the manufacturer has often discontinued the product and users then discover that replacement screens for their beloved hardware are often expensive or impossible to find.
Instead of replacing the entire screen, an inexpensive EL Panel back light replacement can be inserted instead.
There will have to be a some disassembly and soldering involved but there are usually youtube videos for the procedure for most makes and models.
