EL Panels have been used as display backlights in consumer and professional electronic equipment for more than 30 years.

They have proven to be very reliable but if the unit is still being used after more than 10,000 hours of lit display then these will eventually start to fade.

As these units are often decades old, the manufacturer has often discontinued the product, so instead of replacing the entire screen, an inexpensive replacement Backlight can be installed.

There is some disassembly and soldering involved but there are usually youtube videos for the procedure for most makes and models.

They are very robust and if it is too large you can trim to the size required with sharp scissors, never a scalpel blade, also ensuring that you re-seal any 'cut' edges with glue.

This replacement Backlight EL Panel is 18mm x 74mm
