Elvis Aaron Presley[a] (January 8, 1935 August 16, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King".

Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, as a twinless twin, and when he was 13 years old, he and his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began there in 1954, when he recorded a song with producer Sam Phillips at Sun Records. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was an early popularizer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who managed the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the United States. He was regarded as the leading figure of rock and roll after a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines that coincided with the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, made him enormously popular—and controversial.

In November 1956, he made his film debut in Love Me Tender. In 1958, he was drafted into military service. He resumed his recording career two years later, producing some of his most commercially successful work before devoting much of the 1960s to making Hollywood films and their accompanying soundtrack albums, most of which were critically derided. In 1968, following a seven-year break from live performances, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed televised comeback special Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. In 1973, Presley was featured in the first globally broadcast concert via satellite, Aloha from Hawaii. Several years of prescription drug abuse severely damaged his health, and he died in 1977 at the age of 42.

Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, blues and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music, with estimated record sales of around 600 million units worldwide. He won three Grammys, also receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame.

About us

Killians most recent exhibit was in Las Vegas  at the MGM Grand Jeff Mitchum Gallery showcasing a series of UFC paintings.   He exhibits regularly at sport & charity events, Painting live.  Most recently doing a live painting at an evening with football legend ~ Pele ~ at the Centenary Pavilion, Elland Road Leeds.  To see what the Artist has been up to, please check out the Events section via www.killianart.com

His work has been a constant progression over the last 25 years,  After selling his first painting at age 15 he knew then that it was possible to be a professional Artist.  After leaving school with an A at GCSE he went on to study locally doing a general Art & Design course. Then to Carmarthenshire College of Technology & Art and graduated with a distinction in Fine Art/ illustration in 1995. Fresh out of college his work was published as a range of Greeting Cards for Royal Publications and Gluvian Galleries.

During this time Boxing was a huge part of his life, he mixed both passions together creating many of his heroes on canvas.  His first success here was producing a large commission of Steve Robinson for ITV sponsors Empress Car Sales in 1995

As an amateur, he started late at 16 and had his first amateur contest at 18 in Newbridge in 1993, stopping his apponent in the 3rd round. A young man called Joe Calzaghe also boxed on the same bill!!  His amateur record was 45 senior bouts winning 35, stopping more than 15 inside the distance of 3 to 5 rounds (5x2min rounds in Championships 1997). He  seriously considered turning pro with the Calzaghe camp after winning the then ABF (Amateur Boxing Federation) title in 1997, but due to his hands hurting he felt it was the wrong move for his Art career, also disillusioned with the politics surrounding the sport and the amateur scene at that time he pursued his dream of becoming a professional Artist.

His next big success came with a commission in 2005 from James J. Houlihan the American Curator of the successful World Tour Exhibition ~ The Fighting Irishmen ~ The Exhibition travelled since its inception in New York in 2006, The South Seaport Museum, New York in 2007, Boston College 2008, Ulster American Folk Park Museum 2009, Dublin Croke Park Museum in 2010 Limerick, Ireland in April 2011 before finishing in Pheonix Arizona in 2013. The exhibit included 4 of his paintings. more can be seen here www.fightingirishmen.com

His latest works consist of various icons painted in a contemporary style, The distinctive blue in the works, for Killian, make the image pop out, highlighting the shadows. Some people have already mentioned that seeing the work they instinctively know it's a Killian.

Over the last few years he has painted on many sporting and charity events raising many thousands for various charities through his paintings. In December 2009 his Amongst Legends painting of Jenson Button raised £6,000 for the Make a Wish Childrens Charity. He has worked with some of the biggest names in sport over the last few years including: Muhammad Ali's (Celebrity fight night)  Mike Tyson, Paul Gascoigne, Sugar Ray Leonard, Nigel Mansell, Henry Cooper, Tony Jacklin, NaseemHamed, Jamie Robinson, Shane Warne and Gary Player to name a few.
