Daniel Ludford-Thomas was born in Northampton in 1973 and received his formal and musical education locally. He joined the choir of St. Matthew's, Northampton, at the age of seven, developing quickly into a soloist and eventually becoming Head Chorister. In 1986 he became 'Choirboy of the Year', an event sponsored by B.E.T. and this let to many radio, television and concert engagements, including performances at the Barbican Centre with the composer Howard Blake and the Sinfonia of London. Since 1984 Daniel has been a member of the Southern Cathedral Singers, a group organised by the Royal school of Church Music and conducted by a member of its staff. He is also an accomplished flautist and pianist and has featured amongst the prizewinners at the 1986 Nothhamptonshire Music Festival.

After earning his Bachelor Degree, Daniel became a music teacher at Dulwich College. He still is an active singer and has made a number of recordings as a tenor under the name Dan Ludford-Thomas.
