This is an extremely rare and excellent addition to our archive. This very moving High Mass with beautiful Head Tone singing from the boys of the choir school is testament to a lost tradition of singing. Celebrated at St Peter's London Docks in July 1966. The recording is very clear and of good quality. High Mass - Book of Common Prayer with English Missal
This choir was founded by Rev. Desmond Morse Boycott at St Mary's Church Somers Town,in North London in 1919.At the time the area was a slum. Father Desmond started a choir school for the local boys in his song school. In spite of little support from the official church the school continued after a move to Seer Green in Buckinghamshire until 1972. Much of the funds for this project came from Father Desmond's prolific letter writing campaigns. His choristers also used to sell Palm Crosses for use in Holy Week.
