This vintage pair of sterling silver Antonio Pineda articulated fish bone earrings is signed by the artist, Fortino Mota. It is extremely rare to find a pair of these earrings signed by Mota.

Mota worked for Antonio Pineda during the fifties and sixties and was considered a "maestro" and one of the finest artists in Mexico. He is noted in curator Penny C. Morrill's book, "William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance," pg. 46, as an important silversmith in the Pineda workshop. Dr. Morrill is the leading authority in Mexican sterling silver of this period.

These earrings are in excellent vintage condition and would make a great addition to any Mexican silver collection. They have been modified from screw back to 10k white gold posts for easier wear. Heavy and beautifully made. Signed and Hallmarked. Measures: 2 3/8" x 1".
