Casquette Marin by Saint James

70% Wool 30% Polyester

Peak 55mm. from the crown to the outer tip of the peak.

An authentic Breton sailing cap worn by lovers of the sea, from fishermen to the captain.

The Casquette Marin is lined with quilted material and made from grade one wool felt.

The classic French sailor's cap is finished with an edged rope and a wide braid trim, a renowned tight weave for keeping the heads of sailors warm and dry from the salt spray of the sea. An authentic Breton cap as worn by those enduring the most extreme conditions at sea for over century.

Saint James clothing was born in 1889 in the town of its namesake located a few miles from the sea, and close to Mont Saint-Michel in Southern Normandy. The Saint James story began when the Legallais family started to spin and dye the local wool and sell the skeins and wool balls to the shops of Brittany and Normandy, later spinning the wool into shirts for the fishermen. Leon Legallais, the then mayor of Saint-James transformed this workshop into a large industry and in 1929 the company went public.
