Awaiting your purchase is a superb Japanese 950 silver compact with hinged lid engraved to the front and back with a finely chiselled bamboo design. It is marked in various places to the inside with a pattern number 89. When the case is opened it reveals a large square to one side and a further hinged compartment that contains a powder puff and a fine-gauze screen that lifts out to replenish the powder. This beautiful compact remains in excellent antique condition and bears script initials RM engraved to a small panel in one corner of the base.
