Details: This auction is for the authentic original Inuit soapstone hand carved sculpture, made and signed by the very famous Canadian artist Joe Adamie Tukai(1943-1986) from community of Inukjuak, Quebec. This is his early work from the 1960s. The sculpture is artfully carved from grey soapstone and depicts a hunter with stylized walrus. Joe Adamie Tukai’s work is well presented in constant expositions in the largest Canadian galleries, including the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton Art Galleries etc. The work of the artist was also exhibited in some of the best European galleries.

The sculpture is as seen on the photos, it is signed by the artist “Joe Adamie” in syllabic on the bottom and also has the disc number E.9.931.

Measurements: The sculpture measures 4.6” tall and around 7” long (from the hat tip of the to the front bottom of the walrus); weights 944g. 

Condition: The Inuit soapstone carving is in very good condition.
