Australian Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Chris Masuak pulls no punches on his latest album with his Spanish combo, the Viveiro Wave Riders, his follow-up to 2016’s “Brujita”. Chockfull of harmonies, razor sharp riffs and even sharper witticisms, it’s a pure rush of high-energy rock and roll.

Canadian-born Masuak (aka Klondike) cut his teeth in hyper-legendary Sydney pathfinders Radio Birdman as a teenage guitar prodigy. Through a long and storied career with rock and roll soldiers the Hitmen, near US break-outs the Screaming Tribesmen, the first live version of the New Christs and his own outfits Juke Savages, the Kamloops Swing and the North 40, he’s been one of the brightest stars in a crowded Aussie underground rock firmament.

“Address To The Nation” is his second album with the Viveiro Wave Riders and his fourth solo band effort for I-94 Bar Records. Ten songs with some surprises but all true to the Masuak ethos of marrying power to melodies and hooks.

From the arresting geopolitical guitar assault of “1776” to the Birdmanesque chug of “Gun Song”, the faded Darlinghurst dazzle of “FFS” to the stark and reflective splendour of “This Bar”, “Address to The Nation” is an eloquent and incisive trip through some truly dangerous madness.

It’s music to kick your arse as the whole world goes to Hell in a handbasket.

“Address to The Nation” was recorded in Galicia in Northern Spain with long-serving drummer Juan Martinz El Kara and new bassist Abe Corujo, Victor Gacio engineered it.
