Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra Tints - The original exterior UV Protection Oil!
Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra contains special clear ingredients which stop the suns rays from ageing and greying your wood, without losing its natural beauty, colour or character. Based on natural oils, UV Protection Oil Extra will leave a satin-matt finish that is breathable so does not peel, flake or blister.
Osmo UV Protection Oil "Extra" contains additional active ingredients that significantly extend the protection period, up to 12 times, whether used as a stand alone finish or over a stained finish when compared to other UV Oils. It is a basecoat and top coat all in one that protects your wood against mould algae and fungal attack. Please note that some tins may state "Extra" and some state "Tints". This is due to Osmos new label design and the product inside remains the same.
Preparation:
The wooden surface must be clean and dry before applying Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra. Thoroughly remove any previous varnish by sanding with P120 grit abrasives.
Application:
Test in an inconspicuous area to confirm suitability and the final colour. Apply Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra evenly with a good quality brush such as Mako Premium Woodcare Brush or for larger areas Osmo 220mm Floor Brush. On bare timber two coats will be required, apply a second coat after allowing to dry overnight or 10-12 hours as per the first.
Areas of use:
All vertical external joinery including windows and doors, cladding, gates, garden furniture, and much more. Also suitable for Bamboo poles (e.g. in screens).
Can it be used on Green Oak? A moisture test must be performed before using Osmo UV Protection Oil on Green Oak. Because the moisture in Green Oak and oils do not mix, the moisture content must be below 20% before treating with UV Protection Oil.
Finishes available:
Clear, Oak, Cedar & NEW Natural
The Oak and Cedar versions of UV Protection Oil produces a slightly darker finish than the standard Clear, enhancing the beautiful colour of the wood and giving longer UV protection.
The Natural version is optimally balanced with special white pigments to retain the light natural character of oak, with the strongest UV-resistance. Please note that the Natural version is not suitable for darker hardwoods and may result in a light creamy finish. On lighter woods it should be applied thinly, again to prevent a creamy finish.
