VP-1 Carbon Acrylic Arm-board Structural Modification for Linn LP12
The first step in our line of original upgrades for your LP-12
This Armboard is compatible with our LP-12 Unity Sub chassis
also available from our shop should you wish to upgrade at a later date
The Missing Link VP-1 Armboard Structural Modification has been developed
specifically for your the Linn LP12
The VP1 mod will replace the poor quality MDF board
that is surprisingly fitted to the Linn LP-12 as standard
The mild Steel braced chassis of the Linn LP12 is very rigid compared to the arm-board and as the arm board is the only link between the tone arm and the chassis it has to be realized that any energy absorbed by the arm-board will result in lost information - the MDF energy absorbing arm-board material is the weakest link in this scenario and the high quality bearings that are fitted in most quality tonearms become pointless when the arm-board has any resonance or can absorb energy at audio frequency.
The loop needs to be totally rigid from cartridge body to center bearing to allow the information in the record groove that is generating energy at the stylus tip to have no option but to travel into the cartridge and assuming the main bearing and tone arm is in good condition this VP-1 Mod is a substantial structural upgrade for the Linn-Sondek turntable.
This kit will also improve chassis damping &
will give considerable improvements to the rigidity between the tonearm and
sub-chassis thus allowing the ability to get the very best from the tonearm.
The standard MDF is surprisingly poor considering
the quality of the rest of the chain and this VP1 Mod improvement offers the
first step in allowing more detail & dynamics from the cartridge with
added bass control to bring a new insight into your recordings.
When we first heard the difference that the VP1 Mod
could make to any Linn for such a small outlay we were simply stunned.
The kit includes instructions and medical grade
non-magnetic fasteners and is simple to fit with basic DIY knowledge
It is not necessary to drill or alter the standard Linn LP12 in any way
