This hardy evergreen shrub has striking steel-blue foliage especially in summer. It has an upright growth habit with a vase-like shape. Best performs as a wind or privacy screen, wide border plant, and medium shrub.

This low-maintenance evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Once mature, shearing is recommended to maintain desired shape.

Outstanding, evergreen shrub with dense, upright branches clothed in sharply pointed, bright green needles. Depending on variety, works well as a ground cover, hedge, screen or windbreak. Requires little maintenance.

'Blue Vase' has a vase-shaped form with good foliage in both summer and winter. Foliage is primarily scale-like, and steel-blue in color.

Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerant of a wide variety of soils including clay. Intolerant of wet soils. Tolerant of some drought once established. Also tolerant of many city air pollutants.
