Pratt & Miller Engineering and Fabrication is a company formed by Gary Pratt and Jim Miller in 1989. Based in New Hudson, Michigan, they have been one of General Motors official racing teams since 1999 when they were key in the development of the Chevrolet Corvette C5-R. Today, Pratt & Miller constructs, maintains, and runs the United SportsCar Championship Corvette Racing team with Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs as well as the Pirelli World Challenge Team Cadillac CTS-Vs. The company also built the Pontiac GTO.Rs and Pontiac GXP.Rs, and later the Chevrolet Camaro GT/GS.R for various teams in the Rolex SPORTS Car Series. The company built and ran the Chevrolet Corvette C6.R in the American Le Mans Series as well. The company also did work on the development of the Qvale Mangusta and Ford GT. Since their alliance with General Motors, Pratt & Miller have won numerous championships and famous racing events. Corvette Racing has won their class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans eight times, claimed the overall victory at theRolex 24 at Daytona in 2001, and won seven straight American Le Mans Series championships. Team Cadillac won the 2005 Speed World Challenge in the team's debut season, while The Racer's Group, running Pratt & Miller-built Pontiac GTO.Rs, won the Rolex SPORTS Car Series championship in 2006. GM Racing's Katech-built LS7.R small-block engine was also named the 2006 Global Motorsport Engine of the Year. Katech built the C5-R and LS7.R engines that powered the C5-R and C6.R Corvettes in the GTS/GT1 classes of ALMS and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After Le Mans 2009, Corvette Racing switched to the GT2 class and decided to bring the engine builds in-house. Corvette Racing won the 2012 and 2013 American Le Mans Series GT Team's and Manufacturer's Championships.

The Chevrolet Corvette (C8) is the eighth generation of the Corvette SPORTS car manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet. Following several experimental CERV prototype vehicles, it is the first mid-engine Corvette since the model's introduction in 1953 (as well as GM’s first production mid-engine SPORTS car since the Pontiac Fiero was discontinued in 1988), differing from the traditional front-engine design. The C8 was announced in April 2019, and the coupe made its official debut on July 18, 2019 during a media event at the Kennedy Space Center (referencing its association with NASA) to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. The convertible made its debut in October 2019 alongside the racing version, the C8.R. The C8 retains some design elements found on the C7, but the majority of the exterior has been completely overhauled. The engine's repositioning has necessitated a stronger focus on aerodynamics and cooling: large side scoops house air intakes and accentuate the side panels, and the rear features smaller vents below the taillights. A conventional trunk is located at the rear, with additional storage spaces over the engine and at the front of the car. Combined, these provide 13 cubic feet (370 L) of cargo space, 2 cubic feet (57 L) less than that of the C7. As a result of the switch to a mid-engine layout, the passenger cell has been shifted forward by 16.5 inches (420 mm). The C8 will also be offered in both left and right hand drive configurations, another first for the Corvette.[8] The cockpit has been designed to be driver-centric, with numerous controls mounted on the center console (known as the Electronic Transmission Range Selector, or ETRS) as well as implementing a new hexagonal steering wheel. A 12 in (30.5 cm) digital screen replaces the instrument cluster and reflects one of the six driving modes selected, and is accompanied by an 8 in (20.3 cm) touchscreen. A special Z button (an homage to the Z06, ZR1 and Z51) is also mounted on the steering wheel; this can quickly activate customized performance settings.
