Es Gibt Reis, Baby is a 1993 comedy and music album by Helge Schneider . It is Helge Schneider's fifth album and was recorded partly in the studio and partly live . The recordings were made with Schneider's band Hardcore , consisting of organist Buddy Casino and drummer Peter Thoms . It was Schneider's most commercially successful album.

The double CD contains some of Schneider's best-known songs, including the title song There are Rice, Baby , Katzenklo (his most successful single), Telefonmann and the Buttersong ("If you have a mother, you always have butter - in the closet"). The sketch The old Reinhold-Helge game is also known . In contrast to the previous album Guten Tach , which mainly consists of cover versions and adaptations of well-known jazz classics, the majority of the songs on this album were written and composed or improvised by Schneider himself. In terms of style and content, there is a closeness to the “ nonsense hits“The 1920s.
