PATENT SPECIFICATION No. 12,901. APPLICATION DATE: 11th June, 1896. SPECIFICATION ACCEPTED: 11th June, 1897. TITLE: IMPROVEMENTS IN MACHINERY OR APPARATUS FOR THE PROPULSION OF TRAM-CARS AND OTHER VEHICLES. APPLICANT: HOWARD LANE of Corporation Street, Birmingham, County of Warwick. Size: 195mmx270mm. No. of pages of text: 3. No. of pages of drawings: 1. Size of page of drawing/s: 300mmx225mm. Brief Description of Patent: My invention relates to a novel combination and arrangement of machinery or apparatus for the propulsion of tramcars and other vehicles of the like kind, and it consists substantially of a prime mover such as a suitable gas or oil engine, in combination with an air or spring accumulator and a secondary motor of a hydraulic type (that is to say, operated by the pressure of a liquid) capable of having its effective power varied automatically or otherwise by varying as required the length of stroke of its crankpin or crankpins. Condition: Slight crinkling. Wear to left hand edge where removed from volume, no loss to text or drawing. Pages loose. This was sold by Manchester Library and has their stamp impression on some of the pages/drawings. Multiple Item Postage: Patents can be combined for postage costs, the cost is the same whether you purchase one or several, so check out our Ebay Shop patent listings as well. This patent specification has been disbound from a volume of 100 different patents. This is an original HMSO published item at the time, not a modern copy as are being sold elsewhere. The drawings are often ideal for framing. It is part of a collection of several volumes from the 1893/5,1907 & 1920/50's that I have from which individual patents will be sold over the next few years.
