Size: The printed area on each side measures approximately 85mm x 160mm with margins beyond, and is uncoloured as published. Suitable for mounting and framing.

Description: An original antique, copper-engraved map by Capt. Daniel Paterson, published in 1785 by Carrington Bowles  in ‘Paterson’s BRITISH ITINERARY being a new and accurate Delineation and Description of the Direct and Principal Cross Roads of Great Britain’.

The sheet is printed on both sides, each with two numbered strips showing the route with settlements and topographical features. Some notable places on the routes are as follows:

Side 1 - (strips 27 & 28) - Reading, Wallingford, Oxford

Side 2 (strips 29 & 30) - Bicester, Brackley, Towcester, Northampton

Cartographer / Engraver: Daniel Paterson.

Provenance: 'Paterson's British Itinerary, Being A New and Accurate Delineation and Description of the Direct and Principal Cross Roads of Great Britain', Vol 2, London, 1785

Condition: Very good condition. Light age toning. Small stain to the top corner of the sheet (by strip 27), not affecting the printed area. Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.
