Jimi Hendrix's Gibson Flying V

Jimi used nail polish to create the custom psychedelic finish shown here.

Played throughout 1967 and 1968 Jimi eventually gave this Flying V to Eire Apparent guitarist Mick Cox, who inexplicably removed Hendrix’s custom paintwork.

Passing through several owners the Flying V was eventually re-painted identically to Jimi’s original design and is currently displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Ohio.
