2. Sow seeds directly into your flower garden after all the danger of frost has passed and the soil is warm. These seeds will not germinate in soil under 72 degrees F or 22 degrees C.
3. I recommend you soak seeds for 24 hours in lukewarm water before planting.
Angel trumpet seeds can germinate from two weeks to several months. Just keep the temperature up and the soil slightly moist at all times, and you will have the best chance of quick germination, Don't lose patience! (I have plants growing this Spring, where seeds fell from a plant last Oct.)
4. Plant seeds and cover the bases with four times their thickness in soil. From planting to blossoms, about four months varies with climate.
The seed needs heat. The seed germinates at 72 degrees or above.
5. Angel's Trumpet is a beautiful and widespread flowering plant. It has trumpet-shaped blooms. Hummingbirds are attracted to the bright blooms.
6. Angel Trumpets are easy to grow. They prefer full sun but will tolerate partial shade—plants like a rich soil to fuel their fast growth. Mix a healthy dose of compost into the soil before planting.
7. Plants like a lot of water and nutrients. Keep soil moist. Add general-purpose fertilizer every two to three weeks during the season. Switch to a high-phosphorous formula just before the blooming period.
8. Angel Trumpet flowers are often grown in pots. Make sure to use a big container for this big, fast-growing plant. You may need to water it daily during hot, dry weather.
9. Keep the areas weeded when plants are young. A layer of mulch will keep weeds down and create a neat appearance. The mulch also helps to feed the big appetite of this plant.
