An Ottoman Wood Turban Stand (Kavuvklu)

19th Century
A rare Kavuklu of characteristic form, tall back plate and bracketed shelf.
Guilted with beautiful motives and the Ottoman Islamic crescent moon.
Turbans were worn by Ottoman court officials and elite members of society, and their shape, colour and style would denote the wearer’s rank. When not being worn, the turbans would be safely stored intact on turban stands.
Height : 97 cm
Condition : The stand has a whole in the middle as you can see at the photos and a mark of white paint.
