Details: This auction is for the exquisite VERY RARE and highly collectible antique Capodimonte (Capo Di Monte) porcelain hand painted snuff box, made in Italy in 1870-1890s. The lid is adorned with the classic hand painted pair of putti (cherubs) and elegant hand gilding. The front and both sides of the box feature rare hand painted hunting scenes. Most often Capodimonte snuff boxes feature cherubs, the HUNTING SCENES motive is very rare. The cherubs, trees, hunters etc. are in relief (raised above the surface) porcelain. The back of the box has intricate hand gilded pattern. The rim of the box as well as the lid is secured with golden tone metal. On inside, the lid and the box have charming floral hand painting.

Capodimonte porcelain was created by the Capodimonte porcelain manufactory, Naples, Italy, the most outstanding factory for early Italian porcelain.

The snuff box is as seen in the photos.

The bottom of the snuff box has the “blue crown and N” identifying mark of the Capodimonte.

Measurements: The snuff box measures approx. 1.5" tall, 2.25" across the front and 1.8" across the side.

Condition: The antique Capodimonte porcelain hand painted snuff box is in very good condition.
