This stunning piece has a sleek modernist form and a magnificent brutalist texture.
The conical shaped stem leads to a wide, curved cup designed to safely catch any dripping wax. The candle holder accommodates a standard sized candle.
The fabulously chunky textured surface adds a sense of movement to the form and an appealing tactile element to the design. The textured surface would look sensational in the warm flickering glow of candlelight.

THE ARTIST: German-born silversmith, Ernst Fries migrated to Australia in 1959, working full time producing individually designed silver and enamel jewellery and hollow ware for churches. Fries is a renowned sculptor, and is well represented in both public and private collections within Australia and overseas.
